DVGW - Certification of products
Reliable products
For some gas and water products and installations there are no applicable European Directives. In addition to the entire range of water-related products, there is no EC Directive on, for instance, gas fittings, pipework and pressure regulators, so that for these products, national DVGW or DIN-DVGW certification based on the DVGW Regulations continues to furnish reliable proof that all generally accepted technical rules are complied with.
The requirements pertaining to gas and water products set forth in the DVGW Regulations are specifically tailored to match national installation and user behaviour. If the unambiguous definitions stated therein are adhered to, compliance with the 'state-of-the-art' will most probably be ensured, in accordance with the presumed effect mentioned in the Energy Management Act.
Public utilities, technical dealers, specialist tradesmen or consumers - anyone who uses a product bearing either the DIN-DVGW or the DVGW certification mark generally cannot be blamed for negligent conduct in case of damage.
What is more, the DVGW Certification Body may award the GS mark - the award of which is regulated by law - to products that are working materials as defined by the Safe Equipment Act.
