Quality certification
Beyond CE certification
While the CE mark of conformity confirms that a product complies with all applicable safety regulations, it only marginally covers quality, performance capability, installation and environmental aspects. Many manufacturers, however - especially in Germany -, prefer certification that goes beyond the minimum technical safety requirements.
The quality mark that was introduced early in 1995 meets this demand. Its purpose is to visibly demonstrate that more stringent quality criteria than those underlying the CE mark of conformity are complied with on the basis of strict and comprehensible requirements which, in turn, are based on the current quality level of the German gas appliances standards and environmental regulations.
The quality mark identifies a device as a reliable product of high quality to be trusted by specialist tradesmen and customers alike. Certification is voluntary; under the proviso that all tests have been passed successfully, the quality mark may be displayed next to the CE mark of conformity.
The quality mark is assigned on the basis of test criteria that form an integral part of the DVGW Regulations.
The DVGW offers so-called system certification for gas appliances with a pertinent exhaust system. System certification comprises the testing and homologation of both boilers/burners and their exhaust systems, with one CE mark of conformity and one quality label applying to both device units.
Among other things, the quality mark demonstrates
- a long working life and reliability
- easy maintenance and installation
- state-of-the-art control and user-friendliness
- availability of spare parts for 10 years minimum
- professional customer service
- convenient operation and use
- reasonable energy consumption
- environmental compatibility
- Applying for both the design test (CE mark) and the quality mark at the same time saves money!
