DVGW CERT GmbH has expanded its popular hydrogen certification programme ZP 5101. Based on the results of the DVGW research project HydEKuS (G 202208), in which DVGW CERT was involved, supplementary tests for evaluating the behaviour of elastomeric materials in relation to rapid gas decompression (RGD) have been included. The research project has shown that RGD damage can occur in elastomers in gas infrastructure when used with both hydrogen and natural gas. The testing and evaluation method included in the certification programme thus enables, for the first time, the testing and classification of elastomeric materials in gas infrastructure with regard to their susceptibility to RGD damage.
Applications to extend the existing certification to include the evaluation of RGD behaviour can now be submitted.
