ATTESTATION OF CONFORMITY OF PRODUCT HYGIENE SUITABILITY FOR DRINKING WATER

Please note that all documents required for compliance reviews, provided they are complete and duly submitted, and received by DVGW CERT no later than 31 August 2026, will be included in our standard processing schedule and considered for timely completion by 30 December 2026 at the latest.
Documents received after 31 August 2026 will, of course, still be processed, but strictly in the order in which they are received. For such applications, the timely issuance of compliance reviews cannot be assured.
Please be aware that the likelihood of timely processing decreases as submissions are received closer to the applicable regulatory deadline of 30 December 2026. The later the required documents are submitted, the lower the probability that the conformity assessment can be issued within the required timeframe.

The attestation of conformity confirms the hygienic suitability of products which are designed to come into contact with drinking water. The testing and evaluation of the hygienic suitability will be harmonised across Europe from 2027 onwards, but currently still falls within the scope of national regulations.
In accordance with the legal provisions of the EU Commission, no new hygiene conformity certificate according to the UBA assessment criteria (KTW-BWGL) shall be issued after 30 December 2026.
Our deadline for accepting applications for conformity certificates according to the UBA assessment criteria is 01 April 2026.
We would also like to point out that, due to the necessary processing times, we must receive all required documents (e.g. test reports) by 31 August 2026 in order to be able to issue the certificates of conformity on time.
Applications for conformity certificates in accordance with the new uniform European procedures (EU-DWD) can already be submitted.

The hygienic suitability of products, parts and components (pipes, fittings, valves, hoses, seals, etc.) intended to come into contact with drinking water is analysed and assessed.
The drinking water hygiene requirements are specified for specific materials and substances in the assessment principles of the Federal Environment Agency (UBA-BWGL).
The binding assessment principles concretise the general requirements of the Drinking Water Ordinance (TrinkwV § 17, paragraph 3) for materials and substances in contact with drinking water.
Procedure process
The evaluation of the drinking water hygienic suitability of the product is carried out based on the “Recommendation for attestation of conformity of the German Environment Agency”. DVGW CERT GmbH has implemented the recommendation by means of the certification programs ZP 1000 according to “System 1+” and ZP 0800 based on a “type test”. The conformity of products and components in contact with drinking water is confirmed by our DVGW attestation of hygiene conformity and monitored regularly by DVGW CERT approved testing laboratories
